Military Women in The Presian Gulf | Socyberty


Military women in the Persian Gulf War came into their own. Combat zones were hard to pinpoint in Operation Desert Storm and women were given more recognition for their abilities to serve where they were most needed. Among other things, they fired missiles, fueled aircraft, constructed buildings and intercepted incoming Scuds. They more than proved they were capable of doing the job.

When President Richard Nixon created a commission to study the possibilities of an all volunteer military. That commission didn’t take women into consideration as a military resource. They did note that only twenty to to thirty percent of duty is directly related to combat. The remaining positions are, support positions, administration, training and maintenance.
