Acute Kidney Failure (Renal Failure) | Healthmad

Acute kidney failure usually happens when people are very sick. When the kidneys have more work than they can bare they stop. What is truly amazing is that it doesn’t happen more often. It’s more common in hospitalized patients who are in ICU. The patient will require dialysis treatments during the hospital stay but kidney function can return to normal as the patient recovers. In other cases dialysis may be required for weeks or months before recovery of full kidney function. Some patients may never recover kidney function.
